Guru Deepak Mazumdar - Bharatnatyam

Performer, teacher & choreographer these are the three attributes that describe Deepak Mazumdar, the dedicated (master performer) one of the most respected names in the classical dance scenario for more than three decades. Deepakji is a 'Top' grade artiste of Doordarshan. Over the years Deepak has carved out a special niche in the world of Indian classical dancing and has created an everlasting impression by his prowess in 'Abhinaya'. The first male to master the art from Mumbai university in the field of Bharatnatyam (MFA) with flying colours the degree of dance. A recipient of the National Scholarship for dance 1978 and now the senior fellow Government of India ministry of culture 2010. Gold medalist from Sathya Sai Baba in 1971 Prashanti Nilayam. He has been awarded YUVA KALA VIPANCHEE by Dr. Balamurli Krishna(2004), SATHYA ACHARYA SUNDARAM BHARATANJALI(2007), PRABHU PADA SAMPURNA KALA PAKSHA 2010 by Bharti Kalakshetra, Iskon Juhu, Mumbai (2010), Sevabharti, Lifetime Achievement Award Nritya Bharati (2011). Deepak owes his gesture of gratitude.

First to the Chief mentor Padmashree Dr. Smt Kanak Rele. who groomed him to be a dignified and aesthetic performer par excellence. Deepakji innate sense & rhythm was honed and developed under the tala wizard Vidwan Kalaimamani, late Guru Shri. T. S. Kadhirvelu of Tirugokarna.
